Every Citizen Has the Right to Affordable Education
Equitable and affordable education is a primary pillar in building high-quality human resources. Affordable education must be accessible to all citizens across all regions.
The launch of various strategic programmes must be specifically designed to cut educational costs, which often pose a heavy burden on families. Through school operational subsidies, the elimination of illegal levies in state educational institutions, and the provision of free uniform and book programmes, local governments must ensure that cost is no longer a barrier.
In addition to directly easing the financial burden, local governments are expanding the reach of educational services by distributing facilities even to the most remote areas.
Building on this premise, the 2026 Batch II Regional Sulawesi Outstanding Local Government Awards were held to recognise regions deemed capable of expanding access to quality educational services. These regions received awards under the ‘Access to Educational Services’ category.
This category assesses the commitment and performance of local governments in expanding public access to quality and equitable educational services. The assessment covers the equitable distribution of teachers, educational facilities, literacy and numeracy achievements, and community participation in education. Regional innovation serves as an added value in providing adaptive educational services oriented towards improving the quality of human resources.
The 2026 Batch II Regional Sulawesi Outstanding Local Government Awards continue a series of appreciations previously held in several Indonesian regions. Following the Sumatra Region in Batam, the Java and Bali Region in Bali, and the Kalimantan Region in Balikpapan, the series proceeded to the Sulawesi Region.
Several local governments in Sulawesi received significant attention for the programmes and innovations they have implemented, including environmental management, increasing access to health and education services, and providing decent housing for the community.
The 2026 Batch II Regional Sulawesi Outstanding Local Government Awards took place on Friday, 10 September 2026, at 19:00 WITA. The event was broadcast via live stream on detikcom and detikSulsel.
