Evening parade resumes
JAKARTA: An evening parade, held routinely at the Merdeka
Palace in Jakarta during the New Order regime, is to resume with
President Megawati Soekarnoputri scheduled to attend on Sunday
from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., according to the president's secretariat.
Such an activity has never been held during the reform era.
No reasons were given on the resumption of the parade, which is
usually marked with the lowering of the flag.
The parade will be highlighted by various attractions,
including traditional dancing, a drum band, Betawi art
performance and song presentations by singer Dorce Gamalama and
child singer Natasya. -- JP
