Evacuation of M7 NTT Earthquake Victims Continues, Police Assist with Data Collection

Head of the Maumere SAR Office, Fatur Rahman, said evacuation efforts are ongoing after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 struck East Nusa Tenggara. “Currently the Joint SAR Team from the Maumere SAR Office has headed to the affected locations, namely Nagekeo Regency and other areas impacted by the earthquake. At present, data collection on all victims is still being coordinated with the local BPBD,” said Fatur when confirmed on Saturday (15/8). Meanwhile, NTT Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, said that based on reports received from several police jurisdictions in Flores, the worst damage is in Maumere, Sikka Regency. “The joint team is still focused on carrying out evacuation and rescue measures in addition to conducting data collection,” said Rudi. He said all police personnel in Flores have been deployed to assist with evacuation and data collection.
