Evacuation of Derailed Locomotive at Senen Completed as Train Services Return to Normal

We are grateful, praise be to Allah, that railway operations at Pasar Senen Station have returned to normal. The causes are under investigation, specifically the derailment of the locomotive and also a derailment involving the Serayu train; the Serayu train set of two cars is still being investigated, according to Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1, at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta, on Friday (22 May 2026).

Franoto said the locomotive and the derailed train occurred at different locations, in different directions.

“This indeed involved two trains at different locations. Two derailments, two rail vehicles,” he said.

The evacuation was completed at 13:07 WIB. KAI also provided compensation to affected passengers.

“From KAI Daop 1 Jakarta we extend our deepest apologies to the customers affected. We also implement service recovery: for affected passengers who were delayed for example by 1 hour, 3 hours, and so on, we provide compensation. And for passengers who wish to cancel their journey, we also offer refunds,” he said.
