EVA Air to open three new routes
JAKARTA (JP): EVA Air, a Taiwanese airline which currently
serves three Indonesian cities, will start flying a Taipei-Los
Angeles-Panama City route on Dec. 13 using a Boeing 747-400
aircraft.
The business manager of the airline's agent in Indonesia,
Paulus K. Soelaeman, told reporters here that the new route would
help passengers from Indonesia connect their flights to the
Americas. He said the route would be flown three times a week.
"The route is the only direct connection between Asia to
Panama," he said.
Paulus said the new route is also aimed to connecting
passengers from Asia with countries in Latin America, including
Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru and Guatemala.
He said his office plans to arrange a tour package from
Jakarta to Latin American countries.
EVA Air, a subsidiary of Taiwan's Evergreen Group, currently
flies the Jakarta-Taipei route six times a week, the Surabaya-
Kaohsiung route three times a week and the Denpasar-Kaohsiung
route twice weekly.
He said EVA Air records a load factor of about 70 percent for
its Jakarta-Taipei service during the off-peak season and 100
percent in peak season.
Paulus said EVA Air plans to introduce Taipei-Hong Kong and
Taipei-Macau services in the near future.
The airline, with a fleet of 25 aircraft, currently serves 25
international destinations, including major cities in the United
States, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Paulus said.
