EV Sales at IIMS 2026 Experience 30 Per Cent Increase

Jakarta – The Project Manager of the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026, Rudi MF, stated that electric vehicle sales during the exhibition experienced significant growth compared to the previous year, exceeding 30 per cent.

“Regarding the total number of purchase orders, we have not released that figure; we have only released transaction values. For combustion-engine vehicles, there was approximately a 15 per cent increase, whilst the notably higher increase was in electric vehicles, which rose by around 30 per cent compared to last year,” Rudi told journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.

Based on the organiser’s data, of the total transaction value during IIMS 2026 amounting to Rp95 trillion, approximately 90 per cent was still dominated by four-wheeled vehicle sales.

This figure increased compared to the previous year, which was in the range of 36 per cent.

“It turns out that the composition of electric cars and plug-in hybrids is already above 40 per cent, almost equivalent to sales of combustion-engine vehicles,” he said.

Not only in the electric vehicle segment, but growth also occurred in two-wheeled vehicle sales, which increased by up to 65 per cent compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, the aftermarket sector also recorded an increase in visitor interest in various products on display.

“Hopefully, this will become one of the exhibitions that can serve as a catalyst, in accordance with the hopes and direction from the Minister when opening IIMS,” said Rudi.

The automotive exhibition, which ran for 11 days at JIExpo Kemayoran, was attended by 62 brands, comprising 36 four-wheeled vehicle brands and 26 two-wheeled vehicle brands.

In addition to the vehicle exhibition, the organisers also presented various supporting programmes such as IIMS Infinite Live, Sunmori, Satmori, Test Drive, Test Ride, IIMS Awards, IIMS Community Experience, and various other automotive and entertainment activities.
