Jakarta – The trend of electric vehicle usage during the Eid holiday season is expected to increase further in 2026, with projections indicating that over 23,000 electric vehicles will be used by homecoming travellers. In anticipation of this surge, PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening its Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) infrastructure whilst ensuring that the national electricity supply remains reliable during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2026 period.

Deputy Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung stated that the National RAFI 2026 Command Post, operating from 12-31 March 2026, functions as a centre for information and coordination to ensure adequate energy supply is available to all segments of society.

“For the smooth operation of this Ramadan and Eid command post, what is most important is ensuring public safety and comfort, which we must guarantee. Energy must also be sufficient and accessible to everyone without exception, as part of our supervisory role,” Yuliot said on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Head of the National RAFI 2026 Energy Sector Command Post, Erika Retnowati, emphasised that through proper coordination among all stakeholders in the energy sector, various obstacles and challenges can be anticipated early and handled more quickly and effectively.

“Through the spirit of collaboration and synergy between government agencies, it is hoped that the National RAFI 2026 Energy Sector Command Post will run smoothly and Indonesian citizens can celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely and happily,” Erika added.

PLN Chief Executive Officer Darmawan Prasodjo stated that PLN is ready to support the government’s directive by ensuring the national electricity system operates safely and under control. Nationally, peak demand during the RAFI 2026 period is projected to reach 47.20 gigawatts (GW), with sufficient power generation capacity of 51.61 GW, providing a reserve margin of 4.41 GW, or approximately 9.3 per cent.

To maintain reliable electricity supply, PLN is deploying approximately 72,000 personnel stationed at 4,137 emergency command posts, equipped with various supporting equipment, including 2,005 generator units, 773 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, 1,349 mobile substations, 429 truck cranes, 4,901 operational vehicles and 4,594 operational motorcycles.
