EV Competition Heats Up as Omoda O4 Launches with 553 km Range on Single Charge
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Competition in the electric vehicle segment at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 is intensifying. Following a series of new model launches by various manufacturers, Jaecoo Indonesia has officially introduced the Omoda O4 EV as its latest offering to capture the national electric vehicle market. Pricing for the vehicle has not yet been announced.
Omoda Jaecoo Indonesia Business Unit Director, Jim Ma, stated that Omoda is expanding its electrified vehicle portfolio in Indonesia, where growth continues to rise. “We are proud to introduce a new chapter for OMODA in Indonesia through the Omoda O4. The Omoda O4 is designed for those who see a car as part of their lifestyle. Therefore, we present the Omoda O4 as an AI Car for Everyone. With the Omoda O4 EV, artificial intelligence is not just a feature, but a part of the future,” Jim Ma said at GIIAS 2026 on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
In terms of specifications, the Omoda O4 EV is equipped with a 67 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. This battery technology is claimed to offer high levels of safety and durability, while also providing a competitive driving range in its class. Head of Sales for Omoda Jaecoo Indonesia, Willy Wirawan, said the electric vehicle can travel up to 553 kilometres on a single full charge based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard. “This battery can cover up to 553 kilometres on a single full charge based on NEDC testing,” he stated.
Alongside the launch, Omoda has also opened a pre-order period that will only last for the duration of the GIIAS 2026 exhibition. This move is a company strategy to gauge market interest while attracting consumers from the early phase of the product’s launch. “Pre-orders for the Omoda O4 are now officially open, exclusively at GIIAS 2026,” Willy said. To boost initial sales, Omoda has prepared various incentives for early customers, especially as the exhibition becomes an arena of competition among various automotive brands, particularly Chinese manufacturers, who are increasingly aggressive in introducing electric vehicles to expand their market share in Indonesia. “Specifically for the first 1,000 customers who pre-order now, you will receive a free upgrade package worth up to IDR 50 million,” Willy added.
