EU Prepares New Sanctions to Tackle Transnational Organised Crime Groups
Moscow (ANTARA) - The European Union is preparing new sanctions provisions against transnational organised crime groups, according to conclusions from an EU summit released on Friday (19/6).
“The European Council notes the intention of the Commission and the High Representative to submit a proposal for a new horizontal sanctions regime targeting transnational organised crime groups,” the document stated.
The new provisions are being discussed as part of the EU’s measures to address drug trafficking and organised crime.
In the document, EU leaders also called for enhanced cooperation with third countries to combat drug trafficking, improved port security, and stronger law enforcement coordination.
Details regarding the sanctions regime will be provided by the European Commission at a later date, according to the document.
