EU amends duties on MSG

BRUSSELS (Reuter): The European Commission said it was amending definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of monosodium glutamate from Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan because of continued price undercutting.

It said an investigation prompted by a complaint from Orsan SA of France, the only producer in the European Union, had found the duties imposed in 1990 were insufficient to prevent dumping.

It therefore imposed new duties of 0.334 Ecus/kg on imports from Indonesia, 0.289 Ecus/kg on Taiwanese imports, 0.129 Ecus/kg on material from Korea's Cheil Foods & Chemicals Co and 0.286 Ecus/kg on all other South Korea imports.
