ETLE System Strengthened: 2026 Compliance Operation to Minimise Officer-Violator Interaction
Ahead of the implementation of the 2026 Compliance Operation, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) continues to prioritise a modern, transparent, and compliance-oriented approach to law enforcement. A key measure being strengthened is the utilisation of the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system.
Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the use of ETLE technology serves as a solution to public concerns regarding traffic enforcement processes, which have traditionally involved direct interaction between officers and violators. The National Police are committed to providing a more professional, transparent, and accountable traffic law enforcement system.
“The utilisation of ETLE is one of the strategic steps to meet public expectations for objective, technology-based law enforcement,” said Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in a statement on Saturday (6/6/2026). “With an electronic system, the entire process is conducted based on recorded data and evidence, thereby increasing public trust in traffic law enforcement.”
Through the ETLE system, law enforcement is carried out electronically via technology, allowing violations to be detected and processed without direct field contact. This approach is expected to enhance the objectivity of enforcement, reduce the potential for misconduct, and provide a greater sense of justice for the public.
To support the 2026 Compliance Operation, running from 8 to 21 June, Korlantas Polri is optimising various ETLE devices, including static ETLE, ETLE Mobile Handheld, and ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi. This technology allows for wider, faster, and more accurate surveillance of various types of traffic violations.
ETLE Mobile Handheld provides ease for officers to perform electronic enforcement whilst mobile across various locations. Meanwhile, the ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi, equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, is capable of aerial monitoring and reading vehicle licence plates automatically and in real-time, including detecting odd-even zone violations, road marking violations, and other traffic offences.
Furthermore, the Director of Legal Affairs of Korlantas Polri, Brigadier General Faizal, explained that ahead of the 2026 Compliance Operation, Korlantas Polri units will maximise the use of ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi and ETLE Mobile Handheld to support electronic surveillance and enforcement.
“The use of ETLE technology allows traffic violations to be addressed more effectively without the need to stop vehicles or engage in direct interaction with drivers. This not only increases the efficiency of law enforcement but also provides greater convenience for road users,” he explained.
Through the increasingly widespread application of ETLE, Korlantas Polri hopes that the 2026 Compliance Operation will not only focus on enforcement but also succeed in increasing public awareness and discipline on the roads. Ultimately, the primary goal of achieving sustainable security, safety, order, and smoothness in traffic is to be realised.
