The Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has launched intensive technology-based monitoring using ETLE Drone Patrol Precision along MH Thamrin and Wijaya Kusuma streets in Central Jakarta. The monitoring is being conducted to maintain stable traffic flow during the evening pre-sunset period (ngabuburit) when residents traditionally gather before breaking their Ramadan fast.

This initiative implements the directive of the Korlantas Police Chief, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, to ensure that security, safety, order, and traffic flow remain conducive ahead of the iftar (fast-breaking) time. Field supervision is under the command of Korlantas Polri’s Legal and Discipline Division Chief, Brigadier General Faizal, who directly coordinates enforcement strategy and traffic management. Technical operational support is provided by the Deputy Director of Traffic Enforcement within Korlantas Polri, Senior Commissioner Dwi Sumrahadi Rakhmanto, to ensure the ETLE Drone system operates optimally and integrates with the law enforcement data centre.

The MH Thamrin area, a prominent business district and strategic link to various community activity points, experiences a significant surge in vehicle volume during afternoon hours. Residents’ activities—including breaking their fast, searching for Ramadan culinary offerings, and returning home—increase the potential for congestion, particularly at traffic-controlled intersections and flow convergence points.

Through advanced drone technology operations, officers can comprehensively map traffic conditions from above, identify vehicle queue patterns, and detect potential violations that could disrupt traffic flow. The ETLE Drone Precision system enables violation documentation to be conducted electronically and objectively without direct interaction, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability.

Enforcement focuses on violations including traffic lane and sign breaches, red light running, mobile phone use whilst driving, failure to wear helmets or seatbelts, and aggressive behaviour endangering other road users. All law enforcement procedures follow established protocols and are based on valid digital evidence.

The approach maintains humanitarian and educational principles as part of the Police’s Precision transformation. Beyond enforcement, the ETLE Drone Patrol serves as a prevention tool to enhance public awareness regarding traffic discipline, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Through synergy between modern technology and personnel readiness, Korlantas Polri ensures that MH Thamrin and Wijaya Kusuma streets remain safe and controlled, allowing residents to conduct their evening pre-sunset activities and Ramadan worship with orderliness, comfort, and a sense of security.
