JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Land Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation is currently trialling the enforcement of digital law for Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) vehicles through Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) or Electronic Recording Evidence Devices. The limited trial of ETLE enforcement for vehicles exceeding dimensions and loads began in January 2026. Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan stated that this is the Ministry’s responsibility in accordance with the National Action Plan for Handling Over Dimension and Over Load Vehicles, which forms part of the Draft Presidential Regulation on Strengthening National Logistics. Aan explained that the use of technology such as ETLE is crucial for supervising, recording, and taking action against goods vehicles at weighing facilities. Meanwhile, this limited trial is being conducted at three locations of Motor Vehicle Weighing Units based on Weigh In Motion, namely Kertapati Weighing Unit, Talang Kelapa, and Balonggandu. “Through ETLE, it has been recorded that up to 11 May 2026, there were 98,983 violations by goods transport vehicles. South Sumatra Province is the region with the highest number of violations, namely 71,402 or 73 percent,” said Aan. As for the types of violations, they are dominated by load capacity violations at 55,462 or 57 percent, documentation violations at 42,427 or 43 percent, and loading procedure violations at 94 cases. Aan explained that his side has printed and sent letters as a form of follow-up enforcement for the violators.
