ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi Monitors Overloaded and Oversized Vehicles on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road
Jakarta - The National Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas Polri) has once again deployed the ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road as a concrete step in controlling Over Dimension and Overload (ODOL) vehicle violations. The operation is focused on freight vehicles traveling along this primary corridor for national industrial and logistics distribution.
The operation is a follow-up to policy directives by National Traffic Police Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, who instructed that ODOL violations be handled consistently and through technology-based methods on strategic routes. The Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road was selected because it serves as one of the vital arteries for truck movement from the industrial zones of Bekasi, Karawang, and surrounding areas toward Jakarta and eastern Java.
The technical operation was led by Korlantas Polri Law Enforcement Director Brigadier General Faizal, with field coordination by Korlantas Polri Law Enforcement Sub-directorate Head Commissioner Dwi Sumrahadi Rakhmanto. Monitoring was conducted systematically to ensure all processes comply with regulations and hold valid evidentiary weight.
The drone technology used is equipped with cameras capable of high-detail magnification and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. From a certain altitude, the devices can observe vehicle structure, cargo bed height and length, axle configuration, and indications of excessive loads that could endanger traffic safety and accelerate road infrastructure deterioration. All findings undergo verification and validation by operators at the National ETLE Back Office.
The targets of the operation on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road include:
- Trucks with physical dimensions not conforming to motor vehicle technical standards;
- Freight vehicles carrying loads exceeding permissible capacity limits;
- Vehicle modifications without type testing and official approval;
- Transport vehicles failing to meet roadworthiness requirements;
- Violations of heavy vehicle operational procedures on toll roads.
This measure is guided by the provisions of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport, which regulates technical requirements, vehicle construction modifications, and freight load control. Every violation captured by the aerial cameras will be processed through the National ETLE system for identification and validation by officers before official notification is issued to the vehicle owner.
This mechanism ensures law enforcement is carried out objectively, transparently, and without direct interaction in the field, thereby promoting security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow on the roads.
The Korlantas Polri Law Enforcement Director stated that the deployment of ETLE Drones on the Jakarta-Cikampek route is expected to improve discipline among freight transport companies. Meanwhile, the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate Head emphasized that sustained control of ODOL vehicles will reduce the risk of heavy vehicle accidents and preserve the lifespan of toll road infrastructure.
Through a technology-driven approach and continuous monitoring, Korlantas Polri aims to build a more orderly, safe, and sustainable freight transportation system along the nation’s strategic corridors.
