Jakarta, VIVA – The House of Representatives' Ethics Council (MKD) has affirmed that there were no procedural violations in the reinstatement of Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

MKD Chairman Nazaruddin Dek Gam explained that Ahmad Sahroni had completed his suspension and was therefore eligible to resume his duties as a Commission III leader. He emphasised that the entire process had been conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Ahmad Sahroni was deactivated by the NasDem Party on 31 August 2025," Nazaruddin said in Jakarta on Sunday, 22 February 2026.

He explained that the MKD had also imposed a suspension on Ahmad Sahroni on 5 November 2025. The sanction was effective for six months, calculated from the date of his deactivation by the party. Based on this ruling, he said, Sahroni's suspension period had already ended.

"Following the MKD ruling, Ahmad Sahroni's suspension will end on 5 March 2026," he said.

Furthermore, he noted that Ahmad Sahroni's reinstatement as a Commission III leader was carried out based on a proposal from the NasDem Party dated 19 February 2026.

He therefore confirmed that Sahroni's reinstatement as a Commission III leader was fully in line with the mechanisms set out in the MPR, DPR, DPD and DPRD Law (MD3), as well as the DPR RI's Rules of Procedure.

"The NasDem Party's proposal takes effect from 10 March 2026, as the DPR RI enters a recess period from 19 February to 10 March 2026," he said.
