Ethics Board States Ombudsman Has Requested Hery Susanto's Resignation

JAKARTA — The Chairman of the Ombudsman RI Ethics Board, Jimly Asshiddiqie, stated that the board has sent a letter to former Ombudsman Chairman Hery Santoso requesting his resignation. However, Hery has not yet stepped down.

“Ombudsman has sent envoys to the family to request his resignation, but as of today, there has been no action,” Jimly said during a press conference at the Ombudsman Building in Jakarta on Friday, May 29, 2026.

“Should he submit a written resignation, that could serve as grounds to consider leniency, but we have not made a final decision,” he added.

Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Special Criminal Affairs at the Attorney General’s Office (Jampidsus), said Hery is suspected of committing criminal acts while serving as a commissioner of Ombudsman RI from 2021 to 2026.

“The suspect was formally charged after investigators gathered sufficient evidence through a series of investigative actions, including searches,” he stated at the Jampidsus building in Jakarta on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

It was also revealed that PT TSHI sought a solution through collusion with Hery Susanto, then a commissioner of Ombudsman RI. To facilitate this, Hery received money from LKM, who is the director of PT TSHI.
