Estrada to meet insurgent chief

MANILA (AFP): A scheduled meeting between Philippine President
Joseph Estrada and the head of an insurgent group will take place
on "neutral ground" on the southern Philippine island of
Mindanao, Estrada said on Thursday.

However, the president admitted he was still unsure of the
details of the meeting with Hashim Salamat, chief of the
separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), during his
coming trip to the south.

"We will be meeting on neutral ground," Estrada said, possibly
in the cities of Davao, Cagayan de Oro or Zamboanga.

He said he definitely would not meet with Salamat at any MILF
camp but when asked about the date or other details, Estrada
added they were still "not sure".
