Estrada to address PBEC

HONG KONG (AFP): Philippine President Joseph Estrada will make a keynote address to the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) meeting here this month, it was announced Tuesday.

Estrada, who was voted president last year, will spotlight the Philippine economy, viewed as one of the region's most stable, in his address to the 32nd international meeting of the PBEC to take place from May 17 to 19 in Hong Kong, PBEC said in a statement.

Other speakers include Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee- hwa, International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Michel Camdessus, Chinese state councilor Wu Yi, and News Ltd. chairman Lachlan Murdoch.
