BANGKOK (AFP): Philippine President Joseph Estrada flew out of Bangkok on Sunday after a three day visit during which tourism and trade talks topped his agenda, officials said.
While here, Estrada, who has been an advocate of more openness among Southeast Asian nations, also praised Thai Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai for his commitment to democratic principles.
Thailand and the Philippines signed accords on tourism and crime prevention during the visit, and discussed measures to boost trade amid the regional economic downturn.
The tourism agreement will lead to joint promotions in some European and North American markets, and the crime accord will enhance efforts to combat terrorism and drug trafficking, the officials said.
