ESG Award 2026 by KEHATI Returns, Pushing ESG to Become a New Standard for Competitiveness
Amid rising global demands for sustainable business practices, the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is no longer seen as a mere complement to corporate strategy, but rather as an important indicator in building competitiveness, managing risk, and attracting long-term investment.
To encourage this transformation, Yayasan KEHATI is again organising the ESG Award 2026 by KEHATI, an awards event now in its fourth year and a form of appreciation for companies, financial institutions, investors, and business actors demonstrating leadership in the application of ESG principles in Indonesia. The awards ceremony will be held on 6 August 2026 at Soehanna Hall, Energy Building, Jakarta, bringing together regulators, capital market participants, investors, associations, corporations, media, and other stakeholders.
The ESG Award by KEHATI is part of KEHATI’s long-standing effort to promote sustainable investment in Indonesia. Since launching the SRI-KEHATI index with the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2009, KEHATI has continued to develop an ESG-based investment ecosystem, including introducing the ESG Sector Leaders IDX KEHATI and ESG Quality 45 IDX KEHATI indices in 2021, which have now become important references for investors.
Nevertheless, the adoption of ESG-based investment in Indonesia still faces challenges. The number of ESG investment products remains relatively limited compared with conventional investment products, while the understanding of market participants and the public regarding sustainable investment still needs to be strengthened. For this reason, the ESG Award is expected to accelerate the emergence of more players who make sustainability part of their business strategy.
Over its three years of implementation, the ESG Award by KEHATI has been participated in by around 73 companies from various sectors and has recognised companies with the best ESG performance. This year, awards are given in four main areas: Capital Market, Impact Investment, Debt & Project Financing, and Best Facilitator, with an independent selection process involving administrative assessment, scoring, and a plenary session of the Board of Judges.
Ongki Kurniawan, a member of the Board of Judges for the ESG Award 2026 by KEHATI, said that the future success of companies will increasingly be determined by their ability to create economic value while delivering positive impacts for the environment and society. “ESG is no longer merely about meeting the expectations of regulators or investors. ESG has become the foundation for companies to build businesses that are resilient, trusted, and relevant in the long term. Through the ESG Award, we want to appreciate organisations that not only deliver good business performance but also demonstrate leadership in creating real impact for the environment, society, and responsible governance.”
Through this award, KEHATI hopes that more companies, investors, financing institutions, and business actors will be encouraged to integrate ESG principles into their business strategies and investment decisions. The wider the application of ESG, the greater the contribution of the financial sector and the business world in supporting sustainable development targets and Indonesia’s transition towards a greener, more inclusive, and more competitive economy.
At this year’s event, the Board of Judges determined the recipients of the ESG Award 2026 by KEHATI based on a selection process that included administrative assessment, substantive evaluation, scoring according to category, and a Plenary Session of the Board of Judges.
