ESDM Yet to Decide on Fuel Price Changes
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the adjustment of non-subsidised fuel (BBM) prices for the April 2026 period is still in the review stage. The statement comes amid public anticipation for certainty on fuel prices at the beginning of next month.
“For non-subsidised BBM, we will return to Jakarta first, then conduct discussions with the existing dynamics,” Bahlil said during a press conference held via Zoom on Tuesday evening, 31 March 2026.
He explained that discussions on non-subsidised BBM prices are still being conducted jointly with Pertamina and private fuel station operators. As of now, according to him, there has been no decision regarding price changes.
Bahlil emphasised that the prices of Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) Pertalite and Specific Fuel Type (JBT) Solar will not change in April 2026. Pertalite remains at Rp 10,000 per litre and Solar at Rp 6,800 per litre.
He asked the public to refer to official government information regarding the determination of non-subsidised BBM prices and not to speculate before a decision is announced by the government.
Previously, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that there will be no increase in fuel (BBM) prices, whether subsidised or non-subsidised, as of 1 April 2026. The statement responds to the widespread circulation of incorrect information claiming that non-subsidised BBM prices would rise sharply.
Prasetyo said that the decision to raise BBM prices is taken by the government based on directions from President Prabowo Subianto. “After we conducted coordination, in this case the government together with Pertamina and on instructions from the President to always prioritise the interests of the people,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
