ESDM Spokesperson Denies Equating Pertamax with Subsidised Diesel
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) spokesperson Dwi Anggia has denied equating non-subsidised Pertamax fuel with subsidised diesel. “This is fake news and defamation. I never issued such a statement. There are parties deliberately misusing my photo and attaching a hoax caption. The media outlet was written as Kompos.corn,” Dwi clarified in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. A previous post on social media platform threads.com displayed a photo of Dwi Anggia with a caption reading, “Pertamax becomes Rp16,250 per litre. Dwi Anggia, Spokesperson for the Minister of ESDM: There is cheap diesel, just use that. It’s all fuel, right?”. “Once again, that is a hoax and defamation. I hope the public can be smarter and wiser in absorbing information circulating on social media,” Dwi stated. She added that the spreader of the defamation and hoax must be held legally accountable for disseminating false news and provoking public anger. As of 10 June 2026, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga announced an increase in the price of non-subsidised Pertamax fuel from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per litre. The price adjustment was made by Pertamina after coordinating with the government as the regulator and through a periodic evaluation mechanism that considers global oil price developments and economic market prices. This change in non-subsidised fuel prices is also part of the implementation of energy governance aimed at maintaining a balance between business sustainability, service quality, and certainty of energy supply for the public. In its commitment to distributing subsidised fuel, Pertamina Patra Niaga stated that the price of Pertalite remains at Rp10,000 per litre and diesel remains at Rp6,800 per litre.
