ESDM Minister's Expert Supports Strengthening Gas Allocation for West Java BUMD

The Expert Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Commercialisation and Oil and Gas Transport, Satya Hangga Yudha Widya Putra, supports the strengthening of direct gas allocation to West Java’s regional-owned enterprise (BUMD), PT Migas Utama Jabar (MUJ).

While inspecting the compressed natural gas (CNG) mother station in Pasirjadi, Subang, West Java, Hangga specifically highlighted the urgency of optimising assets and strengthening the role of West Java’s oil and gas BUMD to secure local energy supplies in the heart of the national industry.

“This direct allocation of gas is important considering that West Java has a high concentration of industrial areas and a large population,” Hangga stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The inspection on Monday (31/08/2026) reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of ESDM, alongside local governments, to support the role of BUMDs in maintaining the reliability of regional energy supplies.

At the gas facility, which currently has a capacity of four million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), Hangga is overseeing plans for the direct allocation and independent management of pipeline infrastructure by PT Migas Hilir Jabar, a subsidiary of MUJ, transitioning from the current operator, PT BBG.

Hangga expressed his support for the direct allocation of gas supply from PT Pertamina EP Region 7 to MUJ, through the support of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), to bolster national energy security and self-sufficiency.

Meanwhile, the Director of MUJ, Undang Sudrajat, outlined plans for future operational capacity expansion. “There are plans to increase capacity to seven MMSCFD and to establish an LNG mother station. There is no doubt regarding demand, as it could reach 14 MMSCFD in West Java,” he said.
