ESDM Explains Reasons for Pertalite's Absence at Several Pertamina Fuel Stations
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has explained the reasons why Pertalite is no longer sold at several Pertamina fuel stations (SPBU).
ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia stated that this situation occurred due to changes in services at some SPBU.
“For some Pertamina SPBU in Jakarta, there is indeed an upgrade, a change in status from regular SPBU to Signature SPBU, which provides premium services and facilities,” Anggia said when contacted on Friday (8/5/2026).
Therefore, the cessation of Pertalite sales at several SPBU does not mean that Pertamina has stopped distributing subsidised fuel.
“It’s just a change in services and status at some of the SPBU,” Anggia added.
Anggia also assured that PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga remains obligated to distribute Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) RON 90, namely Pertalite, through SPBU assigned by the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas).
According to her, the assignment is carried out every three months to ensure the availability of quotas, distributors, and consumer needs in each region.
“The assignment is conducted quarterly to ensure the availability of quotas, distributors, as well as the needs of consumers in districts/cities,” Anggia explained.
This change is also accompanied by the conversion of the status of several SPBU to Signature SPBU.
Referring to the official website of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Signature SPBU offers additional services for consumers.
Consumers who purchase fuel worth at least Rp 350,000 receive free tyre polishing.
Staff also provide small rubbish bins for consumers to dispose of tissues or paper.
In addition, Signature SPBU are equipped with public facilities such as prayer rooms, ablution areas, and more complete and clean toilets.
The prayer room facilities include worship items like prayer garments, sarongs, and the Quran.
