Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has affirmed that national stocks of fuel oil (BBM) remain secure to date. This is reflected in the high level of public activity, including traffic congestion in several areas.

The Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) of the Ministry of ESDM, Laode Sulaeman, stated that the availability of national energy, including petrol, diesel, and LPG, is sufficient to meet public needs.

“So, it’s like this. I get stuck in traffic every day, but in other countries, people are already walking. That means we still have enough reserves available, both for BBM, petrol, diesel, and LPG. Sufficient,” said Laode when met at the Ministry of ESDM on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Furthermore, Laode revealed that the government is continuously working to maintain national energy stock resilience to ensure smooth BBM distribution, especially amid high public consumption.

“The Minister, when asked, tells us that we sometimes have to stay up late to chase the stock so it matches. That’s what we do to keep serving the public,” said Laode.

Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, targeted national operational fuel oil (BBM) stocks to reach 30 days or one month.

According to Bahlil, current national BBM stock resilience is around 21 to 25 days. However, there is an additional supply of about seven days from Karimun, so the government is optimistic that the one-month stock resilience target can be achieved.

He also mentioned that the government is communicating and preparing for additional infrastructure development. The development is planned to begin in May.

“Now there’s an addition of another seven days from Karimun. And this is what we’re communicating so we can reach one month. Anything more, we’re building. In May, God willing, pray for us, we’ll start the construction,” said Bahlil at the Ministry of ESDM on Friday (10/4/2026).

Meanwhile, national LPG stocks are above 10 days. Therefore, Bahlil assesses that this condition shows Indonesia has passed the critical period related to global dynamics that once affected energy supplies.

Nevertheless, he still asks the public to use BBM and LPG wisely to maintain national energy resilience.
