Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will hold a follow-up meeting with PT PLN (Persero) to discuss the rolling blackouts that have occurred in several regions recently.

Secretary General of the Ministry of ESDM, Erani Yustika, said discussions regarding the state of the electricity system have been conducted with PLN, including in a meeting led by the Minister of ESDM the previous day. The Directorate General of Electricity (Ditjen Gatrik) is also scheduled to hold another meeting with PLN’s board of directors. “Yesterday there was also a meeting between the Minister and PLN. Today, it seems the Director General is also having a meeting with the directors,” Erani stated at the Ministry of ESDM, Friday (12/6/2026).

Previously, PT PLN (Persero) confirmed that the electricity system in Java is currently operating in a safe and controlled condition, despite a number of operational constraints that have impacted the reduction of electricity supply in some areas.

PLN conveyed this in response to the rolling blackouts occurring in several regions recently. The blackouts had sparked various speculations, including issues related to the depletion of coal supplies for power plants.

Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL at PT PLN (Persero), Gregorius Adi Trianto, said the company continues to undertake various efforts to maintain the reliability of electricity supply and provide the best service to all customers.

“PLN conveys that the Java electricity system is currently operating and well-controlled, although there are operational constraints that have impacted the reduction of electricity supply in a number of areas,” Greg told CNBC Indonesia, Friday (12/6/2026).

He then denied the occurrence of a blackout as widely discussed. For the disruptions experienced by some customers, PLN expressed its apologies and confirmed it continues to take handling measures to maintain the reliability of the electricity system.

“We also urge customers to follow information developments through official communication channels, including at local PLN units,” Greg said.
