Escorted by Three Suku Anak Dalam Chieftains, Baby G Returned to Batanghari Safe House

Thanks to a persuasive approach undertaken by the leadership of the Batanghari Resort Police (Polres), three temenggung, or community group leaders of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD), from the Kejasung area personally escorted baby G, aged eight months, back to the Safe House of the UPTD PPA in Batanghari Regency.

The Kejasung group is one of the large SAD communities living around the Bukit 12 National Park in Jambi. The three leaders who took part were Temenggung Jelitai, Temenggung Mlembo and Temenggung Melambu, accompanied by a Debalang (traditional security officer) of Bukit 12 named Nuntun.

The Head of Batanghari Polres, Assistant Grand Commissioner Arya Tesa, through the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit AKP M Fachri Rizky, confirmed that the baby had been delivered by the SAD group on Sunday evening. The baby was due to be handed back to his biological mother, Pemi Sri Rohani, on Monday afternoon (27/7/2026).

The condition of the baby, the child of Tedi Hidayat and Pemi Sri Rohani, was reported to be healthy and cheerful upon arrival at the Safe House. Throughout the return process, baby G was seen accompanied by an SAD woman who had been caring for him.

Although the baby’s return had been communicated to the family, the official handover anticipated by the police and the Batanghari UPTD PPA could not take place. This was because at the same time, Pemi Sri Rohani and her legal counsel, Prayogi Yulisti, were at the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters.

They had gone to the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters to report alleged legal violations connected to baby G’s disappearance. It is understood that the baby had been taken by his biological father, TH (Tedi Hidayat), since 7 July 2026.

Prayogi Yulisti stated that, for the sake of his client’s mental and physical safety, the handover of the child should ideally be carried out unconditionally through the police without directly involving SAD community members. He also revealed security concerns after his client said she had received threats during a meeting at the Batanghari Polres the previous week.

For his part, Debalang Nuntun stressed that the presence of the senior SAD Kejasung figures in escorting baby G was a demonstration of obedience to the law of the state. The step was also taken to restore the good name of the SAD community, which had been beset by slanderous rumours regarding an alleged baby sale.

Nuntun insisted that the matter of baby G was purely triggered by an internal family conflict between the baby’s biological father and mother. He denied there had been any forcible taking or abduction of the baby when he was removed from the Safe House on Friday evening the previous week.

The case originated from a domestic dispute involving civilians, which dragged in the Suku Anak Dalam customary community as a party that had cared for the baby at the father’s request. Having lost contact with her husband, Pemi and her family, accompanied by their legal counsel Prayogi Yulisti, reported the husband’s actions to the Batanghari Polres office.
