Repairs to the escalator that recently malfunctioned at Duri Station, West Jakarta, are still underway. Despite the ongoing maintenance, some KRL commuters have still attempted to use the escalator.

Observations at the location on Sunday (4/10/2026) showed passengers initially attempting to head towards Platform 5 for the Tangerang line. Station staff subsequently informed them that the escalator is currently undergoing repairs.

Staff were also heard regularly issuing announcements via loudspeakers, directing passengers heading to Platform 5 to use the manual stairs instead.

“For those heading to Tangerang, please use the manual stairs as the escalator is currently being repaired,” an official announced.

Passengers were then seen moving towards the manual stairs located in front of the escalator, while staff remained on standby nearby to provide direction.

The incident involving the escalator suddenly moving backwards occurred on Saturday (3/10/2026) at 07:45 WIB. A total of 12 people sustained injuries due to the accident, all of whom have received medical attention.

KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary, Karina Amanda, stated that of the 12 injured passengers, 10 were adults and two were children. Five individuals were referred to the hospital, two are undergoing observation, while the remainder have continued their journeys.

“Currently, five people have continued their journeys, five have been referred to Duta Indah Hospital, and two are under further observation. We will continue to monitor the condition of all affected users and provide assistance as required,” said Karina.
