Esa Unggul Introduces Digitalisation of Vaccine Data
Vaccine data management at Independent Midwife Practice Places (TPMB) in West Jakarta is being encouraged to move to a digital system through the implementation of Extended e-iANC. The system helps midwives record vaccine storage temperatures, monitor stock, and manage vaccine data in a more structured manner.
The programme is run by Universitas Esa Unggul through a Community Service Programme (PKM) titled ‘PKM Capacity Building for Independent Midwife Practice Management with Extended e-iANC in the West Jakarta Working Area’. This activity is in collaboration with the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) West Jakarta Branch and supported by the Community Service Programme for the 2026 Funding Year from the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
PKM Team Leader Dr Hosizah explained that Extended e-iANC is a development of the e-iANC system to support Maternal and Child Health (KIA) services, including vaccine data recording.
‘With this system, midwives can record the temperature of vaccine storage refrigerators electronically, monitor vaccine usage and stock in real-time, and automatically generate temperature graphs,’ said Hosizah in a press release on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
Through the programme, midwives receive training, technical guidance, and mentoring in using Extended e-iANC. The system is expected to reduce dependence on manual recording, which still uses paper-based forms.
Manual recording requires midwives to spend more time monitoring stock, creating refrigerator temperature graphs, and retrieving archived data.
One participating midwife said that the digital system makes vaccine data management more practical.
‘With Extended e-iANC, recording becomes more practical and tidy. We also find it easier to monitor vaccine usage and stock so that services to the community can be delivered more effectively,’ she said.
In addition to speeding up recording, the implementation of Extended e-iANC is expected to help improve midwives’ competence in using information technology. The programme is also directed at supporting more documented vaccine data management in immunisation services at TPMB West Jakarta.
