Erwan Hopes West Java Mojang Jajaka Become Strategic Tourism Communicators in Digital Era

West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan hopes that the province’s Mojang Jajaka (Moka) will play a strategic role as tourism ambassadors in promoting regional potential amid the development of the digital era.

“The 2026 Mojang Jajaka competition is a crucible. Today’s tourism challenges demand that tourism ambassadors become strategic communicators in the digital era,” Erwan said at the Grand Final of the 2026 West Java Mojang Jajaka Selection in Bandung on Saturday (22/8).

Erwan hopes that the selected Moka will be able to package West Java’s tourism potential with an approach that is relevant to Generation Z, without abandoning Sundanese cultural values.

Moreover, the traditional fabrics worn by the participants from 27 regencies and cities are not merely clothing, but a representation of the masterpieces and cultural identity of the Sundanese homeland.

“It is not just the clothing we wear, but a masterpiece of the Sundanese homeland. Moka must be able to promote leading tourist destinations, including tourism villages, amplify the creative economy based on traditional fabrics and cuisine, and uphold the noble values of Sunda in the eyes of Gen Z and the international community,” he explained.

Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Iendra Sofyan, added that every Mojang Jajaka must deeply understand the potential and leading destinations in their respective regions. Once selected, they are expected to prove their capacity through various projects that have an impact on regional tourism promotion.

“Because they will be tourism ambassadors going forward, they will become a medium for tourism promotion in West Java. Every Moka must know the leading destinations in their region well,” he explained.

The 2026 West Java Mojang Pinilih comes from Majalengka Regency, Tresna Winesa Eriska, while the Jajaka Pinilih comes from Cimahi City, Alden Hugo Daffa Sampurno.
