Erin Brokovich attends Bali environmental meet

Remember Hollywood diva Julia Robert playing environmental activist Erin Brokovich in the Academy Award-winning film of the same name?

The real Erin Brokovich-Ellis is on the island of Bali to attend a five-day meeting on environmentally-friendly technology and capacity building here at the Bali Intercontinental Resort in Jimbaran from Thursday (today) through Saturday.

Brokovich-Ellis, who is now a director of an environmental organization, will speak at the meeting.

The meeting will also feature marine experts, environmental activists and high-ranking officials from world organizations including the United Nations environment and development programs (UNEP and UNDP) and other non-governmental organizations.

The Bali session will the final meeting of the working group after two earlier meetings -- in New York in June and in Nairobi in September.

The five-day gathering will feature a special exhibition on environmentally friendly technology and training and workshops about formulating and executing environmental campaigns, projects and other initiatives. --JP
