Forbes has once again released the Asia 30 Under 30 2026 list, this year highlighting young creators who use social media not merely for entertainment but for education. From art and astronomy to social issues and global news, they have transformed digital content into accessible learning spaces for younger generations. According to Forbes (27 May 2026), Indonesian creator Erika Richardo has drawn significant attention. She gained widespread recognition after a video of her painting Garuda Indonesia’s Boeing 737 went viral on social media in 2025. The artwork was created to commemorate Indonesia’s 80th independence anniversary, featuring batik elements and illustrations of 16 ethnic groups from across the archipelago. The project took months to secure approvals before being realised. Erika Richardo has successfully used art as a storytelling medium to drive social impact. Since childhood, Erika has actively participated in art competitions and taken on small painting projects. Despite her family’s hopes she would continue the family jewellery business, Erika pursued art while studying business at Prasetiya Mulya University in Tangerang. Her name went viral in 2021 after painting her friend’s Porsche with Bali Barong motifs. Together, they founded the nonprofit Rumah Mimpi Indonesia, which has raised approximately Rp1.7 billion to build schools in remote areas and provide art supplies for children. “I want to inspire young people to try new things and encourage those who are creative and love art to boldly become artists,” said Erika Richardo.
