Ericsson to sell new handsets

JAKARTA (JP): Ericsson Indonesia will this year launch more than six new handsets of its three newly established A, R and T series.

The company's director of mobile phone and terminals division, Susanto Sosilo, said on Wednesday the new series were created to serve users' needs.

"The A class is for those looking for an easy-to-use phone at a reasonable price, the R class for those demanding high performance and complete features and the T class is for those willing to pay for a sophisticated phone that appeals to their emotions," he said.

One of the T series, T18S, -- a dual band mobile phone with a range of features and functions, including vibrating alert and voice dial -- hits the market this weekend with a price tag of Rp 3.3 million (US$388).

Another model in the T series, T28, is scheduled to be launched here in August.

Ericsson currently holds 40 percent of the total digital mobile phone market in Indonesia. (cst)
