Erick Thohir Urges New Officials to Become Agents of Change at Kemenpora
Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, officially inaugurated several High Leadership Officials and Administrators within the Kemenpora environment. The ceremony took place at the Auditorium of Wisma Menpora, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4), based on the Decree of the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia Number 55 of 2026.
In his speech, Erick emphasised that this inauguration is part of a strategic step to carry out internal improvements through job rotations. He assessed that this step is important to encourage comprehensive changes within the ministry to become more professional and oriented towards public service.
“Today we can see that my commitment to transforming this ministry is very serious, as per my promise. I am here not because of myself but because you all expect this ministry to level up,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Erick.
He stressed that the rotation carried out is not merely a change of positions, but part of a broader transformation.
“I emphasise that this rotation shift is not just a rotation but a serious transformation where I give opportunities to all of you to jointly make changes so that this ministry is respected and esteemed,” he added.
Through this step, Erick hopes that the newly inaugurated officials will be able to bring about real changes, especially in terms of work culture and integrity within Kemenpora.
“What we are doing today is not just a change or rotation, but I expect those who are inaugurated and those acting as interim to become agents of change, including those of you who are still given the opportunity to serve. I will continue to review because my assessment is only three: results, honesty, and willingness to learn or capability improvement,” the Minister of Youth and Sports firmly stated.
In addition, he also reminded that the main function of the ministry is to serve stakeholders, not the other way around.
“I hope with this rotation and change, Kemenpora becomes a ministry that can serve stakeholders, not us all wanting to be served, not those who want to be served, and of course service has its rules,” added Minister of Youth and Sports Erick again.
Erick also highlighted the importance of professionalism and responsible use of the budget as part of public accountability.
“Every penny we spend belongs to the people, from taxes. I also hope that with this rotation we give birth to a compact team that supports each other. The positions we hold are a trust,” he concluded.
The inauguration event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat, Secretary of Kemenpora Gunawan Suswantoro, as well as special staff and expert personnel.
