Erick Thohir Reports Kemenpora Performance During Meeting with Teddy
Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir visited Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. While at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta, Erick reported his ministry’s performance to Teddy.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, the meeting discussed the long-term programme achievements of Kemenpora. Erick and Teddy evaluated sports sector performance following the SEA Games 2026 and ASEAN Para Games 2026.
In addition, Erick reported the results of the deregulation programme at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which simplified 191 Menpora Regulations into four. “Through the omnibus method, this deregulation also cuts around 60 per cent of provisions (in the Menpora Regulations), from 1,500 articles to 600 articles,” as stated in the Cabinet Secretariat’s release on Monday, 20 April 2026.
During the meeting, Teddy conveyed the deregulation policy in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives. He stated that this step is part of bureaucratic reform to eliminate overlapping regulations and simplify rules.
Teddy noted that Prabowo fully supports the deregulation carried out by Erick at Kemenpora. Moreover, the Gerindra Party Chairman hopes the results will improve programme effectiveness, accelerate athlete development, and strengthen the national sports industry.
Besides receiving the report from Erick, Teddy held meetings with other ministers on Monday. Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono visited the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta on the same evening. With Ferry, Teddy discussed the progress of recruitment for Merah Putih Village Cooperatives managers.
Ferry provided an update on the national vacancy opening for 30,000 Kopdes Merah Putih managers, which is ongoing from 15 to 24 April. “The recruitment aims to select managers who will manage village cooperative units and subsequently lead other cooperative employees from village residents who are members of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives,” as stated in the Cabinet Secretariat’s release on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
After registration, applicants will undergo selection. Successful participants will receive managerial and cooperative training for about two months. “They will then officially become cooperative managers working under the coordination of cross-ministry/institutional bodies, particularly the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs,” the Cabinet Secretariat wrote.
