Erick Thohir Encourages Women and Young Leaders to Shape Kemenpora
Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir has undertaken a refresh of the work culture through the rotation of officials within the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), promoting the role of women and the emergence of young leaders as agents of change.
This step forms part of Kemenpora’s commitment to improving professionalism and bureaucratic transformation to make it more adaptive, dynamic, and competitive.
In the latest composition, female involvement reaches 34 per cent, while young leaders under 40 years old account for 13 per cent. Out of a total of 46 structural officials, 30 are men and 16 are women. Meanwhile, 40 officials are around 40 years old, while six others are under 40.
Menpora emphasised that this transformation is not merely a rotation of positions, but an effort to build a work culture oriented towards public service and measurable results.
“We are encouraging professionalism, integrity, and hard work from all Kemenpora personnel so that this transformation is truly realised with a clear and measurable results orientation,” said Erick in a written statement received by Republika on Friday (3/4/2026).
He also hopes that the officials entrusted with new responsibilities will be able to bring about positive changes, particularly in shaping a generation of youth with character and enhancing national sports achievements.
“Congratulations on the new responsibilities entrusted to you; we will work hard together so that Kemenpora can create competitive young men and women and improve Indonesia’s sports achievements in the future,” he said.
