Erdogan Urges Qatari Emir to Increase Pressure on Israel
Ankara (ANTARA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to convey the need for increased international pressure on Israel regarding its actions in the Gaza Strip, according to the Turkish Presidency.
“It is important for the international community to exert strong pressure to prevent Israeli aggression in our region,” Erdogan stated on Tuesday, adding that Israel continues to refuse to take steps towards achieving peace in Gaza.
Both parties also discussed the relationship between Turkey and Qatar, as well as various regional and international issues, according to the statement.
Erdogan added that Ankara and Doha will continue to develop cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, energy, and the defence industry.
Furthermore, the Turkish president highlighted the negative impact of the ongoing situation in the region on energy supplies and emphasised the importance of developing cooperation in the energy sector and transport corridors.
