Erasmus Huis to present street theater
JAKARTA: The Dutch Cultural Center, Erasmus Huis, will present a two-day street theater program performed by artists from six member countries of the European Union, commencing next Monday.
"This event will help promote Jakarta as a safe city that is not dangerous for foreigners," Erasmus Huis' deputy director Peter Anthonie Hamoen told Antara here on Tuesday.
He was referring to the situation in Jakarta several weeks ago, when radical Muslim groups threatened to expel foreigners after the U.S.-led attack against Afghanistan.
The six countries represented in the event are the Netherlands, Britain, Italy, Germany, France and Spain.
Street theater, which is a form of roaming and often improvised comedy, will also be presented in Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta.--JP
