Eradicating Blank Spots, Andre Rosiade Inaugurates Telkomsel BTS in South Malalak, West Sumatra
The inauguration took place on Sunday (10/5/2026). Andre was accompanied by the Deputy Regent of Agam, M Iqbal.
Andre stressed that building digital infrastructure is crucial for accelerating the recovery and economic growth of the Malalak community in the aftermath of the earthquake.
“Previously, one of the main complaints from the Malalak community was the signal issue or blank spots. Because I partner with Telkom and Telkomsel in Commission VI of the DPR RI, I immediately requested that the construction of BTS in this area be prioritised,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the DPR RI.
Andre stated that the BTS towers in South Malalak and North Malalak serve as concrete proof that community aspirations can be realised through collaboration between the government, the DPR RI, and state-owned enterprises.
“Today, we are inaugurating the BTS in South Malalak and also inspecting the one in North Malalak. Earlier, the community also requested an additional BTS in West Malalak so that the entire Malalak area is free from blank spots. Insya Allah, we will fight for it,” he said.
According to Andre, the presence of good telecommunications networks is not just about communication, but also opens access to education, the economy, and public services for the community. “We want Malalak to no longer be isolated. The roads must be good, the signals must be strong, so that the community’s economy can move and children can learn smoothly,” he said.
Malalak community figure and Agam Regency DPRD member Erdinal expressed appreciation to Andre Rosiade, who is seen as actively advocating for the needs of the Malalak community, including the construction of this Telkomsel BTS.
“On behalf of the Malalak Subdistrict community, we extend our utmost thanks to Bang Andre for facilitating the construction of the BTS in Malalak. Previously there were only two, now there are already four towers,” he said.
Erdinal also hopes that the construction of one additional BTS in West Malalak will soon be realised so that all nagari in Malalak Subdistrict can obtain even signal access.
On that occasion, Andre also requested community support for development and the post-disaster recovery process in Agam Regency. “We hope that the entire community supports development in Malalak and Agam in general. The government cannot work alone. Everyone must unite so that this region progresses further,” he said.
Meanwhile, Agam Deputy Regent M. Iqbal assessed that the BTS construction in Malalak is a tangible form of Andre Rosiade’s concern for the people of West Sumatra, including areas outside his electorate.
“This is a form of attention from a DPR RI member. Pak Andre has helped West Sumatra a lot, from infrastructure, disaster assistance, to BTS construction like this now,” said M. Iqbal.
Also present at the event were Deputy Chairman of the Agam DPRD Novi Irwan, Malalak Subdistrict Head Ulya Satar, nagari heads, niniak mamak, community figures, and Telkomsel officials, namely Surya Firdaus as Manager of Network Operation in Bukittinggi, Galuh Ranggakusuma as Manager of Mobile Consumer Branch in Bukittinggi, Hafiz Alsatori as Supervisor of Territory Mobile Business in Bukittinggi, and Baihaqi Firmansyah as Engineer of Network Operation in Bukittinggi.
Telkomsel’s Bukittinggi Network Operation Manager, Surya Firdaus, hopes that the presence of this BTS can be maintained together by the community.
“We hope that all parties will safeguard this Telkomsel BTS, as there are still incidents of battery theft. Thank you for the full support from Pak Andre Rosiade. May this cooperation continue in the future,” he said.
