Era building gets bomb threat

JAKARTA (JP): The National Police bomb squad (Gegana) removed a package thought to contain a bomb from the Menara Era building in Senen, Central Jakarta, on Friday, after an anonymous caller said the building would soon be blown up.

People working inside the 15-story building rushed out after learning that the building's receptionist, Nuni Suryani, had received an anonymous telephone call at 1:30 p.m. from a man who said that the building would soon be blown up by a bomb.

"The entire security team combed the building for the package. We found it near the parking lot ... and immediately informed the police," Edi, a security guard, told reporters on Friday.

As of Thursday evening, the bomb squad was still examining the package. (ylt)
