Equipping Textile Weaving Skills, Dekranas Holds Bimtek for Alor's UMKM
The Executive Chairman of the National Craft Council (Dekranas), Tri Tito Karnavian, closed the Technical Guidance (Bimbingan Teknis, Bimtek) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in the field of textiles on Tuesday afternoon, 19 May, at the Gunung Mako Weaving Centre (Sentra Tenun Gunung Mako), Alor Besar Village, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
According to a written statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), the closing was marked by Tri presenting Dekranas souvenirs to the Bimtek speakers.
Tri then engaged in active dialogue with the participants, most of whom were young people. He also inspected the processes of making natural dyes and weaving.
Tri urged that weaving crafts could be developed in line with the progress of the times. Thus, besides their cultural value, the weaving crafts could also attract the interest of young people.
Meanwhile, Fauzan Hasan, Director for Synchronisation of Regional Government Affairs at Kemendagri, said the Bimtek was held through a collaboration between Dekranas, Kemendagri, and Nautika Foundation. This collaboration is expected to enhance understanding, technical skills, and develop product innovations based on natural dyes. He hopes the endeavour can promote environmentally friendly and sustainable production practices,” he said.
He added that the participants involved were a younger generation who are starting or developing businesses based on local potential and environmentally friendly products. Through this effort, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit are hoped to be nurtured from an early age.
