Equipping Students with Digital Literacy, BSI Explore Karangpakis Holds Healthy Internet Training
The increasing proximity of internet use to children’s lives makes understanding digital literacy important from school age. This prompted students from Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) Purwokerto campus, who form the BSI Explore 2026 Team for Karangpakis Village, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency, to hold a healthy internet training session for grade IV and V pupils of SD Negeri 3 Karangpakis on Thursday (20/8/2026).
The activity featured Mustofa as a speaker. Pupils were introduced to the use of the internet for positive activities, such as searching for learning information, broadening their knowledge, and developing creativity. They were also given an understanding of the importance of maintaining ethics and being careful in receiving information in the digital space.
Head of the BSI Explore Team for Karangpakis Village, Raihan, said the activity was a form of student concern for children’s digital literacy. “We see that the internet is already very close to children’s lives. Therefore, they need to be equipped with understanding so they can use the internet wisely and not merely follow technological developments,” said Raihan in a release received on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
According to him, the education is expected to be applied by pupils in their daily activities, both at home and at school. “We hope children can become smart, responsible internet users who are able to choose good information,” he added.
Field Supervisor for BSI Explore Karangpakis Village, Ragil Wijianto, appreciated the activity. He assessed that digital literacy needs to be introduced from an early age so that pupils understand the benefits as well as the responsibility in using technology. “Children need to understand that the internet has many benefits, but its use also requires responsibility. Through this activity, students learn how to deliver technology education in simple language that is easy for pupils to understand,” said Ragil.
One pupil, Anisa, admitted to gaining new knowledge after attending the training. “I am happy to take part in this training because I gained knowledge about how to use the internet properly. It turns out the internet is not only for playing, but can also be used for learning and searching for information,” said Anisa.
The healthy internet training is part of the BSI Explore 2026 series in Karangpakis Village. Through this activity, UBSI students, known as the Creative Digital Campus, not only provide education to pupils but also gain experience in organising programmes and interacting directly with the community.
