Equal Development Becomes Priority, Government Support for Regions Strengthened
Efforts to accelerate regional development have become a primary focus for the Gerindra Party Faction of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). National development is deemed necessary to be continuously strengthened so that its benefits can be felt by the community across various regions of Indonesia.
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party Faction, Budisatrio Djiwandono, stated that budget constraints must not become an obstacle to regional development. According to him, the state must be able to face various global challenges and uncertainties while simultaneously ensuring that development continues to progress.
“With this mechanism, regional governments will have access to financing for various strategic development programmes without reducing national fiscal capacity,” he said on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
This statement was made after the House of Representatives passed the State Budget Law (UU APBN) for the 2027 Fiscal Year, valued at Rp4,106.26 trillion. In the 2027 State Budget, the portion of Transfers to Regions (TKD) is set to increase by 5.5 per cent from the 2026 outlook to Rp735 trillion. Additionally, regional governments will be able to access innovative financing instruments sourced from central government investment operators.
This policy is part of an effort to provide space for regions to implement strategic development programmes according to the needs of the community. Budisatrio noted that budget flexibility is required so that regional development can run more optimally. He assessed that every region has different needs and potential, thus support for regional development needs to be continuously strengthened.
“Regions in Indonesia, such as East Kalimantan (Kaltim), make a very large contribution to the national economy. As a representative of East Kalimantan, I am obligated and will continue to fight for regional fiscal interests to ensure they are optimally accommodated,” he said.
According to Budisatrio, regional development is a vital part of strengthening national development. Support for the regions is expected to ensure that the government’s strategic programmes do not only run at the central level but also provide direct benefits to the people in the regions.
On the other hand, Budisatrio supports the government’s steps to strengthen the fundamentals of the State Budget, particularly regarding state revenue. One such method is through increasing the tax ratio target to 10.4 per cent of GDP in 2027. This strengthening of revenue is directed towards supporting various strategic programmes at both national and regional levels.
The increase in the tax ratio is considered one of the foundations for strengthening the government’s financing capacity, so that various development programmes and public services can continue to be implemented.
