The manufacturing sector continues to solidify its position as the backbone of the national economy with a significant contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In response, the Manufacturing Innovation Day serves as a crucial moment for stakeholders to accelerate the Industry 4.0 transformation.

One concrete step taken is the strategic collaboration between global software solutions provider Epicor and President University. This synergy is designed to address the digital talent gap while supporting the government’s vision towards a Golden Indonesia.

Adhi Firmansyah, Channel Sales Director for Southeast Asia (SEA) at Epicor, stated that the urgency of this innovation is driven by the substantial influence of the manufacturing sector on Indonesia’s economic stability. However, the industry is still shadowed by several fundamental challenges.

“The manufacturing sector contributes around 18%-19% to Indonesia’s GDP. The government is currently very active in promoting Industry 4.0 transformation. However, the main challenges faced by industry players are siloed systems, limited digital talent, and technology adoption that is still in its early stages,” said Adhi.

To address these challenges, President University is implementing a progressive approach through its Bootcamp Curriculum. Rector of President University, Handa S. Abidin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., affirmed the commitment to producing graduates with global competitiveness.

“We want our graduates to be absorbed not only in the domestic market but also internationally. Through the Bootcamp Curriculum concept, we gather real problems from the industry, including from Epicor and its partners. Students and lecturers then collaborate to find solutions to those challenges,” explained Handa.

In this partnership, Epicor plays an active role in several key areas.

Discussions at this Manufacturing Innovation Day also underscore that technology is not just about sophistication, but about the effectiveness of integration. Manufacturing companies are required to adopt technology that provides real added value to the business, rather than merely following trends.

The synergy between academia and industry, as demonstrated by Epicor and President University, is expected to serve as a blueprint for digital talent development in Indonesia. With close collaboration, Indonesia has a great opportunity to accelerate a more adaptive, competitive manufacturing transformation ready to compete on the global stage.
