The solution integrates renewable energy, energy storage and power-supply management systems to provide reliable, cost-effective electricity while reducing industrial emissions.

Melbourne, Australia (ANTARA/PRNewswire) — Envision Energy, a green technology leader in the global market, unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI)-based energy system for the mining and metal-processing industries at All Energy Australia. The system combines wind and solar power, energy-storage batteries, and gas turbines fuelled by green hydrogen or green ammonia. An integrated management and control system completes the solution, helping to reduce energy costs, ensure reliable electricity supply and accelerate decarbonisation.

The system is designed to address a key challenge facing mining and metal-processing industries: providing affordable, reliable green electricity to remote mine sites with limited grid connections or no connection at all.

Envision integrates renewable generation, energy-storage batteries and backup power sources in a single system. AI models for weather and energy forecasting, together with Envision’s EnOS AI platform, predict renewable energy output and electricity demand, plan system operations and manage supply in real time. The technology coordinates power generation, energy storage and industrial demand in response to changing weather and operating conditions, helping to maintain electricity supply at lower cost.

Safety and reliability are central to the system’s design, which is intended for mining and metal-processing sites with standard or limited grid access, as well as off-grid locations. The integration of wind turbines and energy storage helps smooth fluctuations in wind-power generation, while grid-forming batteries maintain system stability. The system also features seven layers of protection and control to manage power distribution, maintain stability, and protect and restore the system. These technologies help it handle sudden changes in electricity demand, continue operating off-grid and restore supply after a disruption.

Envision is also exploring the use of gas turbines fuelled by green hydrogen or green ammonia as an alternative to diesel generators, in order to reduce emissions from backup power generation. In addition, Envision’s energy and carbon management technology supports the calculation of product carbon footprints and the provision of data for green certification. This can help producers meet customer demand for lower-emission minerals and metals, demonstrate their environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, and support access to green finance.

Envision offers an integrated service covering planning, engineering, delivery and implementation, as well as ongoing operations, with financing options also available. By tailoring and optimising systems for each site, the company is targeting overall energy-cost savings of around 20%, a renewable electricity share of more than 80% and power-supply reliability of over 99.95%. Actual results will depend on local resource potential, system configuration and production requirements.

Envision is deploying energy solutions across mining and metal-processing projects, adapting them to local energy resources and operational needs. In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Envision supplied wind turbines for Fortescue’s Nullagine wind-power project. The project forms part of the renewable energy infrastructure being developed to support Fortescue’s “Real Zero” strategy.

In Baotou, China, Envision integrated wind power, energy-storage batteries and production electricity demand into a single energy system for environmentally friendly metal-alloy processing. The project supplies more than 70% of its electricity needs from renewable sources and cuts annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tonnes. The results demonstrate the potential for renewables to support energy-intensive metal-alloy production.

At All Energy Australia, Envision is exploring partnerships with mining and metal-processing producers and project partners to develop AI-based energy systems tailored to local resources, industrial electricity requirements and decarbonisation targets.
