Lucena, Philippines – Envision Energy has announced that the first 8 MW wind turbine generator (WTG) supplied for the Alabat Wind Power Plant (PLTB) project has been installed on Alabat Island. This achievement represents a significant milestone for Envision’s first wind power project in the Philippines and marks the largest wind turbine ever delivered by Envision to the international market to date.

The 8 MW turbine features a rotor diameter of 182 metres, hub height of 105 metres, and blade length of 90 metres. The turbine is equipped with storm-resistant technology specifically engineered for the extreme weather conditions common to island and coastal regions. The 64 MW project is being developed by Alternergy Holdings Corporation, a pioneer in wind power development in the Philippines. The project is part of the Philippine government’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) Round 2, and upon completion, will be among the first projects realised through this scheme, thereby increasing the country’s renewable energy capacity.

Chou De Loh, Country Manager of Envision Energy for the Philippines, stated: “The successful installation of the first turbine for the Alabat Wind Power Plant project represents an important development for Envision in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. This project also marks several technological breakthroughs for Envision, including the use of storm-resistant turbine design, installation of multi-section towers, and direct delivery of wind turbines by barge from China to the international market for the first time. Despite challenging site conditions and extreme weather, our team has collaborated with Alternergy and local partners to complete this project safely and efficiently. We aim to continue working with our partners in the Philippines to accelerate the energy transition and introduce increasingly innovative renewable energy solutions across the region.”

Knud Hedeager, President of Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation, added: “The installation of this first wind turbine generator is truly a significant achievement. We faced various challenges, from direct delivery using specially equipped barges, construction of a dedicated port facility on the island, handling of large-scale equipment, securing hundreds of permits, to coordination with various stakeholders. This demonstrates that with strong determination and the right partnerships, we can overcome various obstacles and drive renewable energy to the forefront, especially amid uncertain global conditions. This initial success further strengthens our vision towards a future powered by renewable energy.”

As Envision Energy expands across Southeast Asia, this project demonstrates the company’s capability in delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure in challenging environments whilst supporting the region’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
