Environmental warriors collect 330 kilograms of waste in IKN National Mosque area
At least 300 environmental warriors collected approximately 330 kilograms of waste in the area of the National Mosque of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, during a community clean-up activity (korve) to commemorate World Environment Day.
“The clean-up was carried out in the IKN National Mosque area and successfully collected 330 kilograms of waste,” stated the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, on Sunday. He added that the collected waste serves as a reflection of the ongoing commitment to maintaining the environment and the IKN area.
This action is in line with instructions from President Prabowo Subianto to encourage the ‘Indonesia ASRI’ movement—standing for Aman (Safe), Sehat (Healthy), Resik (Clean), and Indah (Beautiful)—throughout Indonesia. Environmental awareness has become a new lifestyle being cultivated in IKN, he explained. The collected waste was sorted by type, ranging from organic and inorganic to hazardous and toxic materials (B3).
The environmental warriors participating in this climate action included representatives from local village and regional governments, the banking sector, hospitals, hotels, various companies, and security forces within the IKN area.
Ratna Juwita, an environmental volunteer from Pemaluan Village, Sepaku District, noted that cleaning the area around the IKN National Mosque serves as a collective space to foster the awareness that a clean environment begins with simple habits. Another volunteer, Raehan Amsultah from RS Hermina Nusantara, remarked that the clean-up serves as evidence that environmental care in the IKN area cannot be achieved alone, as it requires the involvement of many stakeholders.
