Environmental Road Construction in Banten to be Prioritised in Slum Areas
The Head of the Housing and Settlement Area Department (DPRKP) of Banten Province, Muchamad Rachmat Rogianto, said that there has been a reduction in the budget for his department. Despite this, he is optimistic that they will continue to work on building environmental roads and improving slum areas in Banten.
“Yes, there is a reduction of IDR 100 billion. Previously, we had IDR 520 billion, now it’s only IDR 400 billion, a reduction,” said Rogianto, Thursday (26/2/2026).
For the budget for environmental road construction, the government has allocated approximately IDR 200 billion. However, the specific locations for the construction have not yet been determined.
“Yes, not this year. We still need to conduct surveys first, as there are stages involved. After the survey, we will reconcile with the regencies/cities. Once we have agreement with the regencies/cities, we will determine which projects can be completed by us and then calculate the costs,” he said.
The construction of environmental roads will be prioritised in slum areas and for the improvement of residential areas.
“The priority areas are first, those in slum areas, second, specifically for the improvement of residential areas, and third, if it falls within poverty pockets, then it will be included in the poverty pockets. So there are three criteria that we will use, and the rest can be anywhere,” he said.
In addition, the Banten Provincial Government will be building in seven slum areas in 2026, which are spread across Pandeglang Regency, Lebak Regency, and Serang Regency. The majority of the construction will be in the Lebak area.
“There are approximately seven locations in Pandeglang, Lebak, and Serang Regency in 2026. That means there are seven locations spread across these three regions. The majority will be in Lebak,” he said.
