The Riau Green Union (PeHR) has conferred the Riau Ecosystem Day Statement upon Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan. This award represents high appreciation for Heryawan’s genuine commitment as a symbol of environmental stewardship through the spirit of Green Policing.

The presentation of the Riau Ecosystem Day Statement took place during a Ramadan gathering and breaking of the fast organised by PeHR in Pekanbaru city on Thursday 12 March 2026.

General Chairman of PeHR, Hengky Primana, stated that the Riau Ecosystem Day Statement is a moral movement expected to encourage all segments of society to show greater care for environmental conservation in Riau.

“We award this Riau Ecosystem Day Statement to the Riau Regional Police Chief as a form of recognition and gratitude for his support of various environmental preservation movements in Riau. The spirit of Green Policing that he promotes has become an inspiration for the emergence of collective awareness to protect our ecosystem,” said Hengky in a statement on Friday 13 March 2026.

Previously, the Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR) issued a statement designating 23 February as Riau Ecosystem Day. This Ecosystem Day Statement serves as a moral appeal to all people to preserve nature, forests, rivers, and all ecosystems in the Land of Lancang Kuning.

In the process, the statement was handed over by LAMR Riau to PeHR as an organisation that initiated the environmental care movement in Riau. Hengky Primana, as General Chairman of PeHR, subsequently presented the statement to the Riau Regional Police Chief as a token of recognition and appreciation for Irjen Herry Heryawan’s initiative and commitment in advancing environmental preservation through the Green Policing spirit in the Land of Lancang Kuning.

On the same occasion, Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan expressed appreciation for the dedication of PeHR, which has consistently played an active role in driving various social and environmental care activities within the community. The Police Chief also encouraged PeHR’s movement to continue developing and expanding its reach to all corners of Riau Province, so that the spirit of environmental protection becomes a shared community movement.

“I appreciate the dedication of the Riau Green Union which continues to present positive activities for the community and environment. Hopefully in the future PeHR will continue to grow and its movement wings will reach all areas in Riau,” said Inspector General Herry.

The Ramadan gathering was also filled with various social agendas, including providing assistance to children in orphanages, distribution of tree seedlings as a symbol of environmental care, and a Ramadan sermon delivered by Ustaz Masriadi, Chairman of the Riau Provincial Baznas.

The event then continued with breaking the fast together in an atmosphere of shared solidarity. After breaking the fast, PeHR also invited orphaned children to shop for Hari Raya clothing, as a form of care and joy in sharing during the holy month of Ramadan. This activity was attended by representatives of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), representatives of student organisations such as BEM and Cipayung, as well as all officials of the Riau Green Union from provincial level to district and city level throughout Riau.
