Environment Ministry Ready to Support President's Green Policy for Public Welfare
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Environment Minister Moh Jumhur Hidayat has expressed his readiness to oversee the implementation of the green policies outlined by President Prabowo Subianto during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly, as a concrete step to ensure that nature conservation brings prosperity to the public.
“This is our collective commitment to the principle of no generation left behind: ensuring that today’s green transition becomes a legacy of prosperity, not a burden for the future,” said the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency, Jumhur, in a statement confirmed from Jakarta on Saturday.
The statement responded to the strategic policy direction on the environment delivered by President Prabowo Subianto during his State Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly in Jakarta on Friday (14/8), as a concrete step to ensure that nature conservation and ecological justice bring equitable prosperity to all Indonesians.
“The second guideline is to safeguard, implement and protect vital core national interests. This includes protecting and managing Indonesia’s national wealth so that it can be fully utilised for the prosperity of all Indonesian people,” said President Prabowo Subianto.
In response, the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency has placed the protection of natural wealth, social justice, and concrete solutions for communities at the grassroots level as the main priorities of the ministry’s future policies.
Jumhur stated that the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency is committed to strengthening sustainable resource management measures so that the benefits of a sustainable earth can be felt equitably by all levels of society. This step is in line with the principle of no generation left behind to guarantee the rights of future generations to a healthy environment.
For the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency, the state must be present to ensure that the prosperity derived from natural wealth is shared collectively. This spirit serves as the ministry’s driving force in delivering equitable access to natural resources.
The ministry also continues to strive to deliver pro-environment policies that favour the interests of the wider public, in order to protect the entire nation from various threats, including the challenges of economic hardship due to the impacts of global climate change.
Through strong cross-sector synergy, he is optimistic that the green transformation will not only safeguard the national ecosystem, but also become the foundation for a resilient and equitable national growth to realise the nation’s aspirations.
